Yes, a 10-amp outdoor rated extension cord can be used. It is advisable to use an outdoor rated extension cord with cover for the connection between the 4K and the extension cord.Extension cords that do not exceed 10m / 32 ft in length may be used. Always check the condition of the cord before use. Never use an extension cord in the rain.

Avoid leaving your 4K lid open and uncovered. Continuous exposure to rain, snow or high humidity may lead to premature deterioration and product failure. Regular cleaning and maintenance will help keep your appliance in great working order, removing the cover once a month to wipe excess moisture and air out is recommended. Turning on the element once a month is also recommended to ensure longevity of the components. 

The display screen is fitted with antiglare (frosted) glass. Positioning the 4K into a shaded area, protected from wind and rain is recommended. Should you still have difficulty seeing the display we recommend downloading the app which will relay the data to your device via Bluetooth®.

Should the app disconnect from the 4K’s Bluetooth® it will resume from where you left off upon reconnection.

The 4K has 2 x ambient probes in the hood and 4 removable food probes which monitor the temperature of the food it is inserted into.

The charcoal tongs and side hatch are for reloading charcoal and or woodchips without the need to open the hood of the 4K and loose heat build-up.

For the best results, it is recommended to use natural lump charcoal. The Fast Flame Ignition System™ can also light briquettes, however due to the large variances in ingredients used by different manufacturers, we cannot guarantee their exact ignition time.

Charcoal can be ignited via The Fast Flame Ignition System™. 

Charcoal can also be ignited manually with natural fire starters or lit via a charcoal chimney and transferred into the unit.

It is recommended to leave the hood open for a quicker charcoal ignition, as well as opening the bottom vent to position 6.

Yes, wood can be used. It is recommended to use wood chips however appropriately sized pieces of wood are okay to be used.

The 4K is built to retain heat and only requires a very small amount of charcoal to reach +250°C / 482°F. It is recommended to start with 200-300 grams (7 oz – 10.5 oz) of charcoal. Overloading the 4K with greater volumes of charcoal is not recommended as this will result in a waste of coal and can result in product damage and / or spoilt food.

When the appliance is not in use, the 4K can be stored outdoors, but must be under cover and covered (preferably with a purpose made 4K grill cover), out of the weather. Ensure the cooking surface is clean before storing it away. Always disconnect power cord after use.

  1. Unplug the appliance and try another socket location.
  2. If you use an extension cord, plug the appliance into a socket without the extension cord.
  3. If the appliance has recently been exposed to wet conditions, place indoors and allow time to dry.
